The A.W.A.R.E. program began in August 1991, with the purpose of making the public AWARE of the need for Animal Welfare and Responsibility Efforts by the general public. Everyone is responsible to one degree or another for the care of our animal companions.
This program provides neutered and vaccinated dogs and cats for adoption to families willing to accept the responsibility of pet ownership. They are counseled regarding what is involved with animal care. The cost of feeding, training and veterinary care is a factor which needs to be understood BEFORE accepting a new pet. All of these animals have either been abandoned (dumped) or unclaimed by their previous owners after having been impounded by animal control.
Donations to this fund are used to pay for the costs of drugs and supplies used for neutering and vaccinating the animals.
All professional fees are donated.
A.W.A.R.E. is also used to assist in the medical and/or surgical care of sick and injured wildlife in hopes of returning them to their rightful place in nature. Donations to A.W.A.R.E. are used to pay for the costs of drugs and supplies for the creature's medical/surgical care.
All professional fees are donated.
Donations to A.W.A.R.E. are also used to provide financial help to those persons with temporary need of emergency medical or surgical care for their pets. It does NOT offer funds for routine spaying/neutering/vaccinating. These are considered to be the owner's responsibility. There are funds available elsewhere for these purposes.
Again, the professional services are donated.
