After being separated from my landing party…
Born at an early age and growing up within a time warp typical of rural Ontario, Canada, I lived in a comfortable, but otherwise average home designed to accommodate a shy developing carbon-based life-form. In this epoch, school
classes were small. Hard work was very important. Within this instantiation of space—time the hours were long (up to 24 per day), travel could be difficult, but fun!! Every dollar was precious. The Great Canadian way of life — Logging didn't cut it, the big break came with the discovery of waterpower. Working at the old mill provided frequent insight into the nature of man and machine (But mainly it involved the dispatching of the valued harvest of the ever-dwindling customers' grain orders into a localized black hole: ("HEY GUY! I came in here with ten bags! see the empty bags — count em! TEN bags of grist and I bought four bags of corn-blend — NOW I'M GETTING EIGHT BAGS OUT! -- WHAT THE HELL...) Fortunately, the Coke machine produced steady cashflow! This early career also offered the opportunity to experiment with construction of astounding weapons of mass destruction — "zip" guns made from iron and scrap castings and designed to blast 1" road grader bearings through barn walls, across the deep fresh waters of Washburn Bay and even beyond! Even the presence of the navy wasn't a deterent!
