Mercury 100 as it now looks

1956 FORD F100 Series
The working era: loaded down with brush & wood

My old F100 was used around the Washburn Mill to haul bags of grain and grist up until the time that the mill closed down. (the first hints of global restructuring) After that it was used to haul stone, gravel and a water tank around the farm.

Fully "equipped" with an old tin drain pipe for the exhaust system, brakes that were only connected to the left front and right rear wheels. The battery was weak so you were well advised to find a hill to park it on — in the Ragged Glory sense — if you wanted to shut off the engine for long (of course if you kept it idling then the rad would start to leak). The clutch peddle sometimes disconnected from the linkage and dropped to the floor — so you couldn't disengage the transmission — but oh how I loved that old truck!

272 "Y" Block specs.

Much more street-safe — its worst habit was getting stuck in the snow. It has been rebuilt and was repainted many times in many different colours. It was gray when it was new. It's still in fair working condition with a 390 police special engine which replaced the original V8 "Y" engine — it hasn't been driven out on the highway for several years.
